If NetMRI exceeds its current Device Limit, what can be done to allow it to manage preferred devices only?

By reassigning devices ( the devices that you no longer want to count against the license) to a group with a higher ranking than the highest group already defined  and disabling SNMP for this group, would in effect stop those devices from be counted towards the device limit.

    Or

You could exclude the CIDR's for devices you don't want NetMRI to manage.

Just upgrade to 2.4.1.13 and was hoping to find a directly ability to view the device which are being attributed to the license count.   I *thought* this was to be included, but unless I am missing something I still cannot directly verify the number that appears in the "Network Devices" count on the "Device Groups" page.

What is the specific criteria being used to determine the licensed network device count?

    Brian,

This is a planned feature that hasn't made it into the product yet.

Create a new group with the below statement as the criteria.

$Type in ['Router','Switch','Switch-Router','Firewall','Load Balancer', 'VPN','Wireless AP', 'Wireless Controller', 'VoIP Gateway']

In 2.4.1 under "Reports"  "Asset Reports" "Managed Devices"

This report will show you all the Devices that you NetMRI is currently managing that are consuming your device licenses.

Unfortunately this report does not provide a device count so you will have to export it to XLS to count the rows.

Nope, this is not accurate.  I was provided with this criteria by my local SE some time ago and have already reported that this doesn't quite do it.    This only accounts for 55% of the devices that are reporting as "Network Devices".

This doesn't quite do it either ... running this report against device group "Al" yields a number of devices substantially less than what apperas as the "Network Devices" number.
