What do you use your NetMRI for?

Just curious what the most popular uses are. Who knows, we may trade some ideas others hadn't thought of.

I use mine for network assessments to prequalify LANs for VoIP.

    Cool

We use it to keep an eye on our switches. It also helps during mass changes/firmware upgrades, use the scheduleable scripts to backup our configurations and other information, scan for specific errors, etc...

We are just getting the policy stuff up an running, hopefully it will allow us to keep all of our switches the same.

Are you using all Cisco switches? Or do you have a selection of multiple vendors?

I would like to enable other partners to use this tool for assessments.    Do you charge for these?  What reports to you give the prospect?    Do you try to sell them a leave behind NetMRI after the VoIP deployment?    Let me know if you are willing to share ideas on how we can be better partners to our resellers for assessments.   Thanks, Jon

I do charge for my assessments. Typically $2500 to $4500 dependinf on the customer's locale and size of their network. I know others are charging $8k-9k. I trypically try to sell them their own NetMRI after I do the assessment. I offer $1000 discount off the assessment if they purchase a NetMRI from me. Give me a call if you'd like to discuss further.

Before joining NetMRI, I was a user of the product at CapitalOne, and the typical use varied by role.  Operations would use the issues list and the FindIt tool.  Our internal auditing and regulatory group would use it for configuraiton repository and policy definition/enforcement.  I personally used it for scripted changes across our 2500+ Cisco devices.  For example, the periodic password changes we previously did with CiscoWorks required a 72-hour change windows to complete, but with NetMRI we reduced that process down to as little as 4 hours.

We are 100% Cisco on the switches. If we could afford to have NetMRI do our wireless AP's then we would be multivendor.
