"HSRP in Initial State" Issue Tip

Occasionally we receive reports that NetMRI is firing the "HSRP in Initial State" Issue when the customer is unaware of any HSRP Issues.

Here are a couple things to check for:

    1) Issue the the "show standby init" command on the device to see if any output is report. Note: the "show standby" command will not show any groups in the "initial" state

    2) An HSRP group member in an "initial state" could be the result of an incomplete HSRP configuration. If the virtual IP being reported by NetMRI  in the Issue Details screen is "0.0.0.0" this could be the result of a group number being configured but no IP address.

The NetMRI "HSRP in Init State" Issue Details screen should point you at the interface that NetMRI detected the problem on. Check the device configuration file, and in particular, this interface, for an incomplete configuration.
